CariVu Cavity Detector
A digital adjunctive device to help diagnose carious lesions or cavities.
What makes CariVu unique?
- Uses transillumination technology that makes enamel appear transparent while porous lesions trap and absorb light
- Allows the clinician to see through the tooth, exposing its structure and the development of any carious lesions (cavities)
- CariVu images read like familiar X-ray images
- Uses non-ionizing radiation which is ideal for children, pregnant women and patients who are X‑ray averse
Safe, No-dose Alternative
CariVu has filled the gap for children, pregnant women and others who may not be able to have traditional X-rays taken. For those patients who are X-ray averse, CariVu is an alternative diagnostic method with which they can be comfortable with.
Transillumination Imaging Technology
By hugging the tooth and bathing it in safe, near-infrared light, the CariVu transillumination technology makes the enamel appear transparent while porous lesions trap and absorb the light. This allows the clinician to see through the tooth, exposing any carious lesions (cavities).
Early Caries Detection
Since transillumination can show lesions in the beginning stages, using CariVu during routine prophylaxis/professional cleanings can aid the dental practitioner in identifying questionable areas early on and decide on a course of preventive care.
